Looking for a TutorBird alternative?
TutorBird has been at this since 2014 and is good at it: Private tutors and small tutoring teams who want scheduling, invoicing and a student portal in one place. Halgo competes on a different axis — tutor management software that also builds each student’s homework from your own textbooks, the one job no admin tool touches.
Halgo is in closed beta — invite only, free while the beta lasts. There is no self-serve signup yet.

What TutorBird does well
- A decade of maturity: TutorBird has run tutoring businesses since 2014, and it shows in the breadth — invoicing, online payments, SMS reminders at no extra fee, a student portal, even a website builder.
- Unlimited students on the one plan, with per-tutor pricing that stays cheap for a solo tutor.
- A 90-day money-back guarantee, which is rare and worth taking seriously.
Where Halgo is different
- TutorBird manages the business around your lessons. Halgo also works on the lessons themselves: it reads the textbooks you already teach from and builds each student's homework from them — matched to their level and the focus or saved weak areas you choose. TutorBird has nothing in this category.
- Halgo keeps lesson notes, boards and practice in the same student record. A separately consented transcription-based lesson memory is being tested, but it is not enabled for beta tutors yet.
- Halgo never contacts your students or their parents on its own, and student pages need no account — a share link opens the board. TutorBird's student portal is a real strength, but it is an account your students must hold.
And the honest gaps, so you do not discover them later: Halgo has no native mobile apps (the web app works on phones and tablets); no SMS reminders; no invoicing PDFs or a website builder; no multi-branch management; no lesson transcription or lesson-memory feature enabled for beta tutors yet.
Stay with TutorBird if
- You need invoicing, online payment collection, or SMS reminders today — Halgo does not have them.
- You want a website builder bundled with your admin tool.
- You need a product you can sign up for this afternoon. Halgo is invite-only while in beta.

Questions tutors ask
Is Halgo a full replacement for TutorBird?
Not yet for everyone. If your business runs on TutorBird's invoicing, online payment collection or SMS reminders, Halgo does not replace those today. If your day is scheduling, tracking prepaid packages, and preparing personalised homework — that is exactly what Halgo is built for.
Can I import my students from TutorBird?
There is no one-click import yet. Halgo can parse a pasted student description into a profile, so moving a roster is quick but manual. Ask us for an invite and we will help you move.
What does Halgo cost compared to TutorBird?
TutorBird is $16.95/month plus $4.95 per additional tutor (August 2026, their pricing page). Halgo is free while in closed beta; paid plans will be announced before the beta ends.
