Where Halgo is different
- Teachworks administers an organisation. Halgo is built around one tutor's actual teaching day — and it does the one thing no administration tool attempts: it turns the textbooks you already use into per-student homework, matched to each student's level and the focus you choose.
- Halgo's per-lesson price is zero. Teachworks charges per student lesson, so its real monthly cost grows with your teaching load — worth computing for your volume before comparing.
- Students open their board from a link, no account, and Halgo never emails or texts them on its own. That stance is structural — enforced in code, not policy.
And the honest gaps, so you do not discover them later: Halgo has no native mobile apps (the web app works on phones and tablets); no SMS reminders; no invoicing PDFs or a website builder; no multi-branch management; no lesson transcription or lesson-memory feature enabled for beta tutors yet.

Is Halgo cheaper than Teachworks?
During the beta, yes — Halgo is free. Beyond that it depends on your volume: Teachworks charges a base fee plus $0.065–$0.32 per student lesson (August 2026), so a tutor teaching 100 lessons a month on Starter pays about $48. Halgo's paid plans will be flat, announced before beta ends.
Does Halgo support tutoring companies with several teachers?
Early support exists — shared students and schedules for a small team — but honestly: if you are choosing software for a school today, Teachworks is the more complete choice. Halgo earns its place with solo tutors first.
What does Halgo do that Teachworks does not?
It generates homework from your own textbooks, per student, using their level and the topics or saved weak areas you choose, and it gives students access through share links instead of accounts. An opt-in transcribed lesson memory is being tested but is not enabled for beta tutors today.
